The National Golf Coaches Association's most prestigious honor is induction into the NGCA Coaches and Players Hall of Fame. Formed in 1986 with eight Charter Players and five Charter Coaches, the Hall of Fame currently counts 39 coaches and 49 players among its inductees. New Hall of Fame members are inducted each year in January during the NGCA Hall Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony conducted during the NGCA Member Convention.
The criteria for selection in the Hall of Fame is as follows:
Coaches Hall of Fame
- The candidate has a minimum of ten years coaching experience. This requirement can be waived if the coach is retired.
- The candidate has an excellent coaching record (National and regular season tournament performance).
- The individual has made contributions to the NGCA, the NCAA/AIAW or other professional golf organizations.
- The individual has made general contributions to the game of golf (conducted instructional clinics, directed championships, assumed leadership roles, or has published instructional techniques).
- The individual has received honors in golf on the National, Regional, or Conference level.
- The candidate has coached outstanding players who graduated and went on the careers on the professional tours.
Players Hall of Fame
- The candidate received a baccalaureate degree.
- The candidate should have exemplary character.
- Abided by USGA Rules of Etiquette at all times.
- Represented her university in the highest golf traditions of dress, language, sportsmanship and conduct.
- The candidate must have been out of college for a minimum of five years.
Additional areas of consideration:
- Individual was a member of the NGCA All-American Team - first, second, or honorable mention.
- Individual has made contributions to golf since graduation either as a professional, amateur, coach, official, writer, or teacher, etc.
